Bees and honey in Colmenar

The Honey museum is located only a few steps from Axalingua Language Center in the centre of Colmenar. The Museum occupies the building of the Antigua Hermandad de Labradores which was restored to host this very interesting museum about the world of beekeeping.
Read the story of beekeeping from 8000 years ago to modern beekeeping, uses and properties of bee products, and the important role it plays in beekeeping in the conservation of the environment.
Honey route
A visit to the Honey Museum is complemented with a hiking activity where you can see the most important major blosoms for beekeeping in the area, the contribution of bees to the conservation of species, recent history of the Montes de Malaga, and history of the town of Colmenar. The day ends in a local restaurant with a menu of dishes cooked with honey of Malaga.
