Colmenar is located in a rich area of Axarquía, in the heart of the mountains, hence is also known as Capital of the Montes de Malaga.

As it is one of the white villages which is tempting us to lose ourselves in the small streets, discovering little alleys and watching people using the old tools and making handycrafts.
By spying on the horizons, you soon discover three hills that mark the area, known as the Tajos, and which give that extra beauty to the views. Colmenar is a prosperous village because of its fertile soil, which you experience once you head out the village. Besides that, it is famous for the incomparable sausages and cold meat. In December Colmenar celebrates the "Fiesta del Mosto y la Chacina", where you can try tasty must of grapes and dried meat made of pork.

And of course over the year you can visit its traditional restaurants and inns.

You will need only 25 minutes to reach Colmenar from the Málaga airport and 50 minutes from Granada. Besides having a fantastic environment, Colmenar is a very central place to stay and therefore the perfect starting point for the best excursions: the most attractive beaches along the Málaga coast, the historic cities of Málaga, Granada, Seville, Córdoba ..., Natural Park Montes de Málaga.
