40 years of Stairway to Heaven
40 years ago, on November 8, back in 1971, went on sale an album that was to become one of the most sold and listened albums in rock history. It was an album without a name, only with the image of an old wall paper and a small picture of a man carrying wood on his back. Inside, four previously unknown symbols that represented the four members of Led Zeppelin, Robert Plant, Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones and John Bonham.
Published under the Atlantic brand and better known as Led Zeppelin IV, has now sold more than twenty million copies and with that is one of the best sellers of all time and certainly the best album of the band, with classics like Rock And Roll , Black Dog, Going to California and of course Stairway to Heaven.
Led Zeppelin is definitely my favorite band since I discovered it when I was 14 and I'm still not tired of listening to their songs over and over again, especially Stairway to Heaven, a song just great and unique.
In Axalingua we wanted to join the birthday of this great disc with a small exhibition and this brief reminder. We leave you with the video of Stairway to Heaven's concert at Madison Square Garden in New York in 1973 and its Spanish translation.
Enjoy!
Stairway To HeavenThere's a lady who's sure all that glitters is goldAnd she's buying the stairway to heaven. When she gets there she knows, if the stores are all closed With a word she can get what she came for.
Ooh, ooh, and she's buying the stairway to heaven. |
